12 fps
Single Channel Video Installation
2016

12fps, 2016

12fps is a single channel video installation. The project juxtaposes the animal locomotion photography of Eadweard Muybridge with projection via digital mapping. In doing so, 12fps studies the ongoing fluctuation between image reproduction and the evolution of cinema.

Glitch aesthetics are a prominent feature of the work. By altering Muybridge’s original image, the project suggests a common contradiction with visual aesthetics. Namely, as modern technology progresses, there remains a curiosity in the process of transforming, manipulating and distorting the pristine qualities of the motion image.
